President greets nation on Diwali, urges greater unity

New Delhi, Nov 10 (IANS) President Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday extended Diwali greetings to the countrymen hoping that the festival of light serves as a catalyst for “greater unity within our country”.

In his message, Mukherjee said: “On the joyous occasion of Diwali, I convey warm greetings and good wishes to all my fellow countrymen in India and around the world.”

“Diwali represents the victory of light over darkness and good over evil. May the festival serve as a catalyst for greater unity within our country. Let us on this occasion join forces, share happiness, help the needy and engage in collective efforts to lead our nation to greater and greater glory.”

President Mukherjee also urged for pollu nation to celebrate Diwali in a pollution free manner.
