Proceeds from CAUSE 2017 Donated to Snehalaya, a Psycho-Socio Rehabilitation Centre
Mangaluru: CAUSE 2017- an initiative by the students and alumni of St Aloysius PU College to uphold service and exchange is back with its fourth year of being the change. These students know how immensely blessed they are to be privileged enough to have everything and more in life, and under the leadership of their most supporting principal, Fr Melwin Mendonca SJ, they have organised this noble cause to help the downtrodden of the society.
With the contributions collected by the students over the past two months, they chose Snehalaya, a psycho-socio rehabilitation centre located in Manjeshwar, among other two shelters, to offer their services, no matter how small. For the inmates there, the students brought shorts, water bags, bath towels, and bedsheets along with rice and fruits. These Aloysians, relentless in their desire to do something un-ordinary in life, braving the odds and criticism, were excited to spend time in Snehalaya, and to entertain the inmates, they sang songs, served them juice and snacks, and danced merrily with them. The inmates, elated at their friendliness and interaction were in joyful spirits too, and they didn’t want them to leave.
It’s not about how much the Aloysians gave, it is how they gave it- with all sincerity and eagerness, an honest desire to stir a revolution of compassion and giving. Having being taught to ceaselessly give and love in St Aloysius, these proud students will continue their philanthropic work and will continue to be the change. Student coordinators Suhan Alva, Eshwar Shetty, Shruti Lal and Sushaan K. Attavar, Staff in charge coordinators Mrs. Rekha K. Alva, Mrs. Sylvia Mascarenhas and Mr. Denzil Machado along with principal Rev. Fr. Melvin Mendonca S.J. were present.
