Prof Rai releases CW Ivan D’Souza’s Book ‘Marching Towards Dream Realization’
Mangaluru: To mark the completion of the second year as MLC, Chief Whip of Karnataka Legislative Council, Ivan D’Souza, held a book releasing programme, “Marching Towards Dream Realisation”, at the St Antony Ashram Premises here on September 1.
The programme began with an invocation by the students of Infant Mary’s School. Chief Whip Ivan D’Souza welcomed the gathering.
Bishop of Mangaluru Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza inaugurated the programme by lighting the traditional lamp along with other dignitaries on the dais.
Addressing the gathering Bishop Aloysius said, “It is written in the Bible that you are the light of the earth”. Likewise, we need to be the light of the earth. Ivan has been helping the poor and the needy by taking their medical bill to the Chief minister and providing financial aid for the poor patients. I have proof that Ivan has dedicated his life to the poor and the needy, he visits the families of the poor patients and helps them by providing financial aid from the CM’s relief fund and personally hands over the cheque to them. In two years as an MLC, he has claimed Rs 3.1 crore from the CM’s relief fund as medical expenses for the poor patients”.
The Bishop further said, “There are very few politicians who think of the poor and the needy. When patients come to me with more than Rs 10,000 and above I send them to Ivan and he takes care of their bills by providing funds from the CM’s relief fund. We are in the age of media and whatever good work we do, it should reach the society. When all the good work will be preserved in the form of a book, it will be easier for the people to read it. Today the good work of Ivan has been printed in a book and now the book will be released”.
While concluding Bishop said, “Let Ivan be the light of the society and let the poor and the needy get the benefit from him. Let the Good Lord bless him to continue his yeomen service to the society.”
Prof Vivek Rai released the book “Marching Towards Dream Realization”. Addressing the gathering Prof Vivek Rai said, “We should have big dreams like Ambedkar, Nehru and Abdul Kalam, but now we hardly find people dreaming big. Politicians should dream for the development of the country but nowadays we hardly find such politicians who have a dream for the country. We have a youth leader who is a dreamer from his childhood. When you want to see the stars, do not watch the sky, instead, go to an ashram and see the little children. Ivan sees the stars in the children who are living in Ashrams. He knows the pain of the poor and is helping them in their needs”.
Prof Vivek Rai advised Ivan to walk on the uneven roads, instead of walking on the concrete or asphalted road, because only when we walk on the uneven roads which the poor walk we will realize the problems of the people in the society. Rai congratulated Ivan for his achievements and wished him to reach greater heights.
Director of St Antony Ashram Fr Oneil D’Souza and MUDA Chairman Ibrahim Kodijal also spoke on the occasion.
