Put an end to Matka Menace – SP Annamalai

Chikkamagalru: The newly appointed Chikkamagaluru district Superintendent of Police Annamalai has directed police officials on Friday to control matka, gambling, cricket betting and other anti-social activities with an iron hand within their station limits.


Chikkamagaluru district is known for Coffee plantations, but after the suicide case of DySP Kallappa Handibag it is being known for matka, gambling and cricket betting. Annamalai who made substantial changes in the Udupi district has planned to continue the same in the new district. He has decided to put the brakes on all anti-social activities in the district.

In his first review meeting, Annamalai warned of disciplinary action against officials if they were supporting matka, gambling, cricket betting and other anti-social activities. He also sought the support of the public to control such activities in the district. A toll-free number was announced for the Public to contact the SP.
