Puttur: 14 Arrested for Pelting Stones at and Injuring Police Sub Inspector

Puttur: On Friday, there was a clash between two groups when an attempt was made to shut down a mobile accessories shop at Savanoor.

Sampya rural sub inspector B S Ravi, who was controlling the situation, asked him men to resort to a mild lathi charge. In retaliation, the crowds pelted stones at the police jeep in which Ravi was sitting. He was injured in the head and admitted to a hospital in Puttur.

Soon thereafter, he filed a complaint in the Kadaba police station. Rural circle inspector Anil Kulkarni instructed Kadaba SI Umesh Uppalike to identify the culprits.

Accordingly, the SI and his team have arrested 14 persons.
