Puttur: CBI Police in Town in Search of Former Junior Swamiji of Shri Kashi Math

Puttur: Shivananda Pai, formerly Raghavendra Tirtha who was the junior Swamiji of Shri Kashimath which is the spiritual seat of the Gowd Saraswat Brahmin (GSB) community, has been reported to be absconding.

He is facing charges of mismanagement of the Math property and retaining part of them with him. The CBI and Tirupati police have been on his trail for some time.

On receiving a tip-off that he had taken shelter in an ashram run by Satyashodhana trust in Kemmai on the outskirts, the joint team arrived here and camped in a lodge.

After gathering information from the community members, they visited the ashram on Sunday.

Even after a thorough inspection, Pai was not found anywhere there. The police team left a strict instruction to inform them should Pai anytime turn up there.
