Puttur: Councillor Secures Bail in Defamation Case Filed by Party Colleagues

Puttur: Mohammed Ali, a Congress member of the local municipal council, had contested the election to the post of the president in 2014. He had lost to Nellikatte Jagadish Shetty of the same party.

In the backdrop of it, he had allegedly made some harsh remarks against Shetty and three other councillors of his party who had sided with him.

Stating that his outburst had damaged their reputation, Shetty, joined by Naveenchandra Naik, Deeksha Pai and Kamala Anand, had filed a defamation case against Ali. Responding to the summons, he appeared in the court on Thursday.

The court has granted him bail in the case.
