Puttur: Deepavali Revelry by Friends Ends up in Brawl Leading to Near-fatal Assault

Puttur: A group of friends had gathered in the house of Niranjan in Punchappady in Kaniyoor to celebrate Deepavali.

While dispersing, Yashwant and others arrived in Kabaka to drop Gagan, who near Rakteshwari shrine in Kabaka.

As they were about to part with each other, a fierce argument broke out between Yashwant and Gagan for some flimsy reason. In a fit of rage, Gagan is said to have brought a sharp weapon from his house and assaulted Yashwant. He was injured in the head, hands and legs.

Yashwant, hailing from Kaniyoor and working as a site engineer in Bengaluru, had come down for Deepavali. He has been admitted to a private hospital.

A case has been registered in the town police station.
