Puttur: Following Arrest of Accused in Assault, Doctors Withdraw Stir Plan

Puttur: IMA’s state and national committee member Dr Ravindra address a media meet here on Monday to inform that since the person accused in the recent assault on the medical staff had been arrested, the proposed agitation by doctors effect Aug 17, was being withdrawn.

He further said that the doctors in town had decided to restrict their service to only emergency cases from Monday and to sport block ribbons on their arms in protest. But since the police had already arrested the accused on Sunday, the strike had been withdrawn, he said.

He added that a dharna was resorted to ensure that such unpleasant incidents should not recur and to create awareness among the public about the legal issues involved

Dr Shashidhar, head of the Doctors’ Forum, cautioned that should such instance happen again, a severe agitation would be called for.

Former president of IMA Puttur unit Dr Shripati Bhat, secretary Ashok Bhat, Dr M K Prasad and others were present.
