Puttur: Lone Occupant Dies as Omni Rolls over at Parpunja – Lorry Hit Suspected

Puttur: Ummer (40) from Santosh Nagar of Madavu in Kedambadi village died after his Maruti Omni car rolled over at Parpunja near here in the early hours of Thursday.

The incident is thought to have taken place around 3 am. A passerby informed the 108 ambulance. The rural police too arrived from Sampya.

A lot of thatching grass was found spread around the spot. Most lorries transporting grass are being loaded in horizontal direction also, even up to a metre outside the chassis on either side, thereby posing hazards to passing vehicles.

Hence it is suspected that a lorry similarly loaded might have brushed past the Omni vehicle resulting in its losing road balance.

Ummer ran a shamiana business. He was returning home after setting up one in Mottetadka in Kemminje near Puttur. He is survived by wife, two little daughter and a son. Family sources said that Muhammed Ali, a brother of his, had died on the spot in a mishap while driving a lorry.
