Puttur: Man Possessing Black Bucks’ Pelt Arrested – Four Pieces Seized

Puttur: The forest mobile squad police arrested Galappa Megeri of Ambedkar Nagar in Shirahatti of Gadag district while trying to look for a buyer for pelt of four black bucks (chinkara), which are an highly endangered species.

It may be recalled here that actor Salman Khan also has been charged with hunting the same animal.

On receiving information, the squad led by sub inspector Umesh Uppalike nabbed him from the vicinity of Shri Mahaganapati temple in Sautadka near Uppinangady.

Posing as potential buyers, they trapped him and seized the banned item. He has revealed that the black bucks were poached from the reserve forests of northern Karnataka.
