Puttur: Man Taken to Bengaluru on Work Reported Dead – Family Suspects Foul Play

Puttur: Mithun (30) from Kalenja in Biliyoor village in Bantwal taluk had been engaged by one Nandan from Madikeri for lighting job in Bengaluru on Nov 22.

On Nov 26, when his wife Rajani tried to contact him, the call was received by another person, who informed her that her husband was in the hospital. When contacted again, she was told that her husband had breathed her last and that the mortal remains would be sent home.

Two of Nandan’s workers brought the mortal remains to his native village. Expressing apprehensions about the cause of death, his wife and family members have complaint to the police and have sought a proper autopsy of the body.

The Uppinangady police have questioned the persons that brought the body home. They have stated that Mithun, while doing the lighting work on Wednesday night, started vomitting blood and hence was hospitalized. He is said to have died on Thursday morning.

A person claiming to be a relative asked the two colleagues to shift the body to the native village in a Tata Sumo.

The police have seized the vehicle and also took into custody the driver and the two persons.

The body was shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru for a post-mloortem examinationn.
