Puttur: Police Hold ‘Open House’ with School-children for People-friendly Image

Puttur: The khakhi uniform of the police usually creates a sense of scare in the minds of the people. There is even a tendency among the parents to stop their children from throwing tantrums and showing fuss by dropping the name of the police.

This naturally creates a mindset right from childhood. Towards dispelling this impression and to project the law enforcing authority as people-friendly, Mahesh Prasad, the enthusiastic circle police inspector from the town police station, held an ‘open house’ session for school-children on the premises of his office on Thursday. As part of the first session, students of St Victor’s Girls School visited the station.

He instilled confidence in the children by saying that they need not fear the sight of khaki but instead feel reassured that the police force functions for their security. The children too went around and felt thrilled to have got an opportunity to touch the weaponry on display.

The cops too had, amidst their tense schedule, a diversion in interacting with the children. Prasad said that such ‘open house’ sessions would be held in other stations too very soon.
