Puttur: Senior Couple Bound and Robbed at Nellittadka House

Puttur: A gang of masked men barged into the house of Krishna Shetty (76) and Ratnavati (70), located at Nellittadka of Mudnur village in the taluk on Friday night.

The men bound and robbed Rs 88,500 from a wardrobe in the house. That night when the couple was just about to go to bed, there was a knock on the door. Shetty opened it. The gang suddenly forced their entry into the house.

Before he could react and ask who they were, the miscreants bound the couple with clothes and assaulted them to silence and disable them. Thereafter they left the place.

Hearing the screams of the couple for help, neighbours came and tended them. A police complaint was filed. District SP Dr Sharanappa, additional SP Vincent Shantakumar and others visited the spot.

Shetty is said to be lending money privately. Persons with old grudge or those who knew about large amounts being kept at home may be behind this act, according to police sources.
