Puttur: The civic body of this taluk headquarters was upgraded as a city municipal council about six months ago.
Citizens feel that only the notification was issued without any attached benefits. Additional grants, appointment of extra personnel proportionate to the city level and other entitlements are yet to come.
This shortfall was highlighted by CMC president Jeevendhar Jain at a media meet here on Tuesday. He pointed out that while a hundred civic workers were required, currently there were only 12.
In the circumstances, the civic body might be forced to engage workers on a contract basis. Hence appointment of full-time was the immediate requirement, he urged.
At present, an engineer serving in the council is under a transfer order. Hence the council had to depend on a sole engineer.
He said this situation would be reviewed and discussed at a forthcoming meeting and a delegation would be taken to the state minister of urban development, he further said.
