Quit: Congress to Rajasthan CM

Jaipur, June 17 (IANS) The Congress’ Rajasthan unit on Wednesday passed a resolution demanding resignation of Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje for allegedly favouring controversial former IPL chief Lalit Modi.

The ruling BJP said the opposition party was engaging in “petty politics”.

The Congress state unit the passed the resolution demanding resignation of Raje and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj in its executive meeting in Udaipur.

“The resignations have been demanded from both of them (Raje and Sushma Swaraj) for allegedly favouring Lalit Modi,” Congress spokesperson Archana Sharma told IANS over phone.

The BJP state unit president Ashok Parnami said: “Why the Congress, which was a ruling party both at the centre and in the state, did not launch a probe at that time.”

“This clearly shows that the Congress is raising baseless allegations and is engaging in petty politics,” said Parnami told the media here on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Chief Minister Raje issued a press note to clarify that she was not aware which document people were talking about.
