Ram temple a political issue raised before polls: Muslim law board member

Hyderabad, Feb 23 (IANS) A day after BJP leader Subramanian Swamy moved the Supreme Court seeking construction of Ram temple at the disputed site in Ayodhya, an All India Muslim Personal Law Board member on Tuesday described it as a political issue raked up before every election.

“The issue is raked up before every election. It’s a political issue,” Maulana Sajjad Nomani told reporters here.

“When the matter is before the court, all should wait for the final judgment. Before that we would not like to be provoked on non-issues,” he said when his reaction was sought on Swamy’s petition.

The member of the apex body of Indian Muslims said there was need to focus on real issues like price rise, economic slowdown, and lack of jobs for youth.

Swamy on Monday filed a petition, seeking construction of Ram temple. The court said that the matter would be listed before the bench already hearing other matters relating to Ram temple-Babri Masjid dispute.

Swamy also sought direction for the expeditious hearing of the appeals pending before the apex court challenging the Allahabad High Court order.

Describing as “strange and surprising” the judgment by the Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court directing that the Babri Masjid-Ramjanmbhoomi disputed site be divided in three parts between the three contending parties, the apex court had on May 9, 2011, stayed the verdict.

Asked about the row at Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi, Maulana Nomani said such issues were diverting attention from real problems faced by the country.

“We need to find out why our youth are not happy. They are our children. We should have a dialogue with them,” he said.

The religious scholar feels beating up youth in courts is not in tune with the democratic principle of India. He said this would further distance the youth.

Referring to the resignation of a producer of Zee News channel, he said this proved that no anti-national slogans were raised at JNU campus. When a reporter insisted that anti-national slogans were raised, he remarked: “When it is proved that such slogans were raised we will say the slogans were wrong.”

On the issue of reservation, he said the current policy of reservation is based on religion.

“The Presidential Order of 1950 says that scheduled castes and scheduled tribes shall get reservation as long as they are Hindus but if they accept other religions, they will not get it. This is a clear case of discrimination on the basis of religion,” he said.

Maulana Nomani said all political parties and secular forces in one voice should demand a “correction” in the constitution.

“Unless we correct the constitution, nobody will hear our demand,” he said when asked about his stand on the demand for reservation for economically backward among Muslims.

  1. Dear readers,

As long as vote and money brings in the name of Lord Rama,it will remain always as a political issue rather than SANCTUM SANCTORUM.

The BJP which believe ‘Hindu’ as way of life, Is Ram temple holds any significance than votes as bricks?

  2. Dear Taquiyya artist Shaikh,
When are you going to answer my questions? It has been many many months – Why palaayana vaada ? LOL

    Do you respect India?
Do you agree that Pakistan is our enemy nation for funding and supporting terrorists?
Do you respect sanathana gods like Ganapathi, Shiva, Krishna, Raama, Saraswati etc?

Show some courage and answer these simple questions.

  3. Do you respect sanathana gods like Ganapathi, Shiva, Krishna, Raama, Saraswati etc?-Atheist Mr.Original pai

Sir,In Hinduism vedas (the most authentic hindu scriptures according to most scholars and hindus themselves) and several other hindu scriptures ban idol worship. In fact many great hindus like swami dayanand saraswati ,Raja Rammohan Roy,Srimanta Sankaradeva etc were against these practises.Swami Dayanand Saraswati was undoubtedly the most vociferous critic of image worship. He believed that since the Vedas do not specifically speak of image worship, it is an anti-Vedic practice.

The Brahma Sutra of Hinduism is:”Ekam Brahm, dvitiya naste neh na naste kinchan”(“There is only one God, not the second; not at all, not at all, not in the least bit.”)-Rigveda Samhita vol. 9, pages 2810 and 2811 by Swami Satya Prakash Sarasvati and Satyakam Vidyalankar. Thus only a dispassionate study of the Hindu scriptures can help one understand the concept of God in Hinduism.
Further The oldest of all the vedas is Rigveda. It is also the one considered most sacred by the Hindus.
The Rigveda states in Book 1, hymn 164 and verse 46: “Sages (learned Priests) call one God by many
    names.”-[Rigveda 1:164:46]

The Rigveda gives several different attributes to Almighty God. Many of these are mentioned in
    Rigveda Book 2 hymn 1.

Among the various attributes of God, one of the beautiful attributes mentioned in the Rigveda Book II hymn 1 verse 3, is Brahma. Brahma means ‘The Creator’. Translated into Arabic it means Khaaliq. Muslims can have no objection if Almighty God is referred to as Khaaliq or ‘Creator’ or Brahma. However if it is said that Brahma is Almighty God who has four heads with each head having a crown, Muslims take strong exception to it.

Consider the following verse from the Gita:”Those whose intelligence has been stolen by material desires surrender unto demigods and follow the particular rules and regulations of worship according to their own natures.”
    [Bhagavad Gita 7:20]

The Gita states that people who are materialistic worship demigods i.e. ‘gods’ besides the True God.

Our Original duplicate pai and the dedicated ‘cyber army’ always brings ‘Patriotism, terrorism and Hindu Gods’ to defend his cause for Sangh Parivar. It may be writer’s,bollywood actors, war veterans or student leaders, they use the same trump card to defame and one to connect to anti nationals.

Will our Original Pai is ever thought of ‘nationalism’ when he took the ‘oath of allegiance’ to serve the Gora like RSS Guruji’s submission to British? I would advice him to read authentic Vedas instead of his sweet 16 books to grab some more knowledge on the teaching of Hinduism.

I would also thank him for bringing the questions repeatedly and making my patriotic feeling stronger by day to defend my India. I also appreciate him for knowledge which I gained reading more Hindu scripture.

    Jai Hind
