Ramanagara: Woman Candidate Wins ZP Polls by Record Margin of 14,920 Votes

Ramanagara: According to the last reports received, the margin with which a woman candidate who had been fielded by the Congress party for the Kodihalli seat in Kanakapura taluk in the Ramanagara zilla panchayat elections, is the largest margin in the state.


Out of the total votes of 22321 votes cast, D S Jayaratna got 1,8090 while her immediate rival, Basavamadamma of the BSP, mustered only 3,170. As many as 1,061 voters opted for NOTA (‘None Of The Above’).

Perhaps to give a direct fight to Congress instead of a multicornered contest, the BJP, JD(S) and the independents had withdrawn from the arena.

This is said to be the highest margin of victory secured by any candidate in the panchayat elections held in the state this time.
