Remarks of Aiyar, Khurshid personal: Congress

New Delhi, Nov 18 (IANS) The Congress on Wednesday said the remarks by party leaders Mani Shankar Aiyar and Salman Khurshid against Prime Minister Narendra Modi were personal and not party views.

“Both Aiyar and Khurshid have clarified in different ways. Whatever maybe anybody’s personal view, our view is clear. For us, democracy begins and ends with Indian elections. We respect the 2014 (Lok Sabha election) verdict,” Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi told reporters here.

Aiyar told a Pakistani television channel that talks between India and Pakistan could move forward only if Modi was removed from his post.

Khurshid, a former external affairs minister, praised Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and criticised Modi during his invitation lecture at the Jinnah Institute in Islamabad last week.

  1. What right Mani Shankar Aiyar has to go to Pakistan and tell them that the talks between Pakistan and India can go forward only if Narendra Modi is removed? Though I am not an admirer of Narendra Modi, however I would not like to see Sonia Gandhi and Dr. Manmohan Singh combine or Rahul Gandhi rule and mess up the country. They are worst than Narendra Modi. Dr. Singh is a .. sardar, incapable of attracting a fly and also incapable of reading from prepared texts. Even a school boy from Std. II or Std. III will be able to speak better than him.

Again, Salman Khurshid praised Pakistani Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif and criticized Narendra Modi while giving a talk at Jinnah Institute at Islamabad. What right does Mani Shankar Aiyar and Salman Khurshid have in opening their mouths in Pakistan, a failed and terrorist nation. If they have guts, they should open their mouths in India and not abroad and, that too, in a terrorist country.

Have both these people lost their mental balance in not realizing that it is the Pakistani Army and ISI that runs the country and draws the boundary lines and Nawaz Sharif, just like Dr. Manmohan Singh was till recently, a mere puppet? Before Nawaz Sharif could flex his muscles to assert his authority, he knows what will be the consequences. I am sure that he will not want to languish in the slammer.

Further, Nawaz Sharif has been the Prime Minister on two earlier occasions and behaved like a highway robber, looting the nation to amass wealth, disregarding the judiciary, etc. Pakistan has been screwed up by religious fanatic, Gen. Zia Ul Haq, corrupt politicians like Benazir Bhutto, Nawaz Sharif, Asif Ali Zardari and Gen. Perez Musharrif.

Does Pakistan, a country that discriminates amongst Muslims themselves, i.e. Sunnis, Shias, Ahmedis and other minorities, realise that Quaid-E-Azam (a title given to him by Mahatma Gandhi) or Father of the nation was a Shia (Aga Khani) muslim, who drank scotch whisky, smoked Craven cigarettes, never said the Namaz or attended the mosque, could not read or write Urdu, had 200 suits tailored at Saville Row and never took part in the freedom struggle or spent at least an hour in jail. He had a Bentley driven by a British chauffeur.

  2. Remember – these are the world views of a former external affairs minister!! I wonder how many national secrets were compromised during his tenure!!! He is also a taqiyya expert who always had soft corner towards ‘peaceful’ groups. Remember his comments on Batla incident? In his own words, Sonia Gnadhi was very sad and wept bitterly over the death of terrorists!! The other person, Mani ‘Shaikh’ Iyyar hasn’t fully recovered from his ‘fourth place’ finish in 2014 elections. The bitterness still haunts him!!

    Here is the ugly truth:
BJP courts nationalist, hindu radicals because it knows that the party has many such personalities.
Congress has been a safe haven for anti-national, pro-Pakistaani elements for decades. Congress leadership clearly knows about it. This is why it will never go tough on people like Mani ‘Shaikh’ Iyyar or Khurshid. If you think these guys are alone in Congress, you are a certified dimwit. This is precisely why the Congress will never utter a word on terrorism and underlying religious doctrines. They don’t want to alienate the ‘vote bank’ that is critical for survival!!

I would rather live with a nationalist organization than anti-national, pro-enemy group!!

Note: Nelson is no fan of BJP. We probably disagree on most of the topics. However, he seems to have intellectual honesty to see the reality in this case and denounce these anti-national elements for their treasonous acts abroad. The same thing can’t be said about many others on this forum who happily vote for congress election after election, show fake outrage over imaginary ‘intolerance’ and hide under the table when someone brings up Pakistan or ‘peaceful’ groups. They have no courage or shame. That’s what religious bigotry does to you!!
