Retired IPS Officer Bipin Gopalakrishna (61) No More

Bengaluru: Bipin Gopalakrishna (61), one of the most popular officers of the IPS cadre in Karnataka, passed away in Mallya hospital here on Thursday.

He had retired as the DGP of the CID in 2015, after serving for three decades in the Karnataka police efficiently at various levels.

Hailing from Nellore in Andhra Pradesh, he was from the 1982 batch of the IPS. He had served as additional SP in Udupi, as SP in Chikkamagaluru, Mysuru, Chitradurga, and Mangaluru. He was also the Mangaluru city police commissioner for some time.

He had also served in the STF constituted to nab the forest brigand, Veerappan. Other posts he served were as SP of CBI, home secretary and ADGP (law and order).
