Rio de Janeiro, June 1 (IANS) Former Real Madrid and Manchester City forward Robinho was on target as Santos were held to a 2-2 draw by Sport in Brazil’s Serie A football championship.

Robinho struck from close range – his eighth goal from 20 matches this year – to give hosts Santos the lead just before halftime at their Vila Belmiro stadium on Sunday, reports Xinhua.

Forward Joelinton equalised for the visitors, who went behind again after Worley’s strike 20 minutes from time.

But midfielder Samuel Xavier netted three minutes into stoppage time to secure a point for Sport.

Meanwhile Palmeiras won their first match of the season with a 2-0 victory over Corinthians at the Itaquerao stadium in Sao Paulo.

Rafael Marques and Ze Roberto netted either side of halftime for the visitors.

In Porto Alegre, Internacional were held to a 0-0 draw by Sao Paulo at the Beira-Rio stadium.

Left-back Reinaldo was sent off just before the end for Sao Paulo when he received a second yellow card for a foul on midfielder Anderson.
