Rs 29 Lakh Worth Gold Ornaments Found in Aircraft Toilet at MIA
Mangaluru: The officers of the Directorate of Intelligence at MIA seized gold worth Rs 29 Lakh concealed in the toilet of the Jet Airways flight 9W 531 from Dubai to Manaluru here on January 30.
On getting information about the gold being concealed in Jet Airways flight from Dubai to Mangaluru, the officers investigated and searched the aircraft during which they found 1.23 Kgs of gold ornaments worth Rs 29 lakh in the toilet.
The gold ornaments have been packed in two black plastic pouches and concealed under the Commode. The officers recovered the gold ornaments which included bracelets, chains with pendants, necklaces, and eardrops. The gold ornaments have been seized under the customs act.
This is the first gold seizure after the demonetization, said the deputy director of customs.
