Sambar Deer Leaps on Car near Kadaba, Gets Killed
Puttur: A sambar deer – locally known as ‘kaDave’ or ‘kaDamma’ – got panicky and leapt over the hood of a running car at Kapikana of Balya village in the morning of Saturday.
The incident happened when Abdul Nasir of Periadka in Kadaba was driving his new, unregistered car from Kuntur to Kadaba on the Uppinangady-Subrahmanya state highway.
With the force of the leap, the deer’s abdomen got ripped leading to its death on the spot. Nasir lost control over the vehicle and it landed in a ditch by the side of the road.
The hood and other parts of the car got heavily damaged. The forest personnel arrived and inspected the spot. They took the carcass into their custody and disposed it in the presence of competent officials.
