Serial Theft at Kalpane, Burglars Decamp with Gold worth Rs 7.8 lakh

Mangaluru: Burglars broke into three houses and decamped with gold ornaments and cash at Kalpane, Kulshekar on December 26 night.

According to the police on December 26, Sylvester’s family was attending a marriage function. When the family members were out, burglars broke into Sylvester’s house and decamped with gold ornaments worth Rs 7.5 lakh and cash Rs 30,000 all worth Rs 7.8 lakh. When Sylvester’s family returned home they were surprised to see the front door open. Entering the house they found that the burglars had ransacked the house and decamped with gold ornaments kept it in the cupboard.

In another house belong to Joy Pereira, burglars had broken the main door and entered the house but did not find anything of value as the house owners are living in Bhopal. Lucy Lobo was taking care of the house, on December 27, morning noticed that the main door was broken and informed the police.

The burglars later broke into the house of G M Fernandes but there too failed to find anything of value as the family was residing in Mumbai and S Noronha was taking care of the house. On December 27, he too noticed the main door being broken. Both the houses were ransacked by burglars breaking open the cupboards.

The Kadri and Kankanady Town Police are investigating. The canine squad and fingerprint experts also visited the spot.

A case has been registered in Kankanady Town police station.
