Here is what they tweeted:

Amitabh Bachchan: It’s Maha Ashtami today and what it means precisely is not quite with me. But it is an auspicious day, a day of prayer and fulfilment and happiness!

Shekhar Ravjiani: May the power of the divine mother bless all of us with good fortune and happiness. Shubho Maha Ashtam.

Raveena Tandon: Today on Ashtami. Let’s all vow to protect our girl child. In the land of the devis, our girls to be cherished. Protected. loved. Give them the strength to be the next Durgas-Saraswati-laxmi-shailputri-kaalratri-Parvati-Kali.

Ameesha Patel: Was blessed to get such a personal darshan and do aarti of maa. Jai mata di (hail the goddess).
