Siddaramaiah Budget is Student Friendly – NSUI President Christan Almeida

Udupi: Expressing gratitude the NSUI Udupi district president claimed that the State Budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is totally Student friendly.

In a press release, Christan Almeida district NSUI president said that NSUI Udupi District would like to express their sincere gratitude to chief minister Siddaramaiah for full filling the NSUI demand of free bus pass to all students.

Earlier the bus pass was applicable only to the SC/ST students, from the past few months NSUI had organised a statewide rally demanding free bus pass to all students, irrespective of caste and religion. 19.6 lakh students of Karnataka will benefit from the Free bus pass scheme. This has brought smiles to the faces of students. Transport expenses won’t be an obstacle anymore for students travelling to schools and colleges.

NSUI also welcomes another marvellous scheme that is free education to all girls. In a major thrust to higher education for girls, the Government of Karnataka will provide free education for girls studying PUC, degree and PG courses in govt colleges, with a budgetary allocation of Rs 95 cr for 2018-19. Nearly 3.7 lakh girl students will benefit by this.

Allocating a total amount of Rs 794 crore to the Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood Department will be useful for the youth and students.

Apart from this, programs like ‘youth helpline’ will be useful for the students to obtain information related to education and employment.
