Six held in Bengal for unauthorised travel in defence vehicle

Kolkata, Feb 8 (IANS) Six people were arrested on Monday for travelling in a defence ministry vehicle without valid documents in West Bengal’s Burdwan district, police said.

The six were arrested while travelling on the national highway 2 in Jamalpur.

“The vehicle had a sticker of the Ordnance Factories Board under the defence ministry but none of the occupants could provide any supporting documents,” said a police officer.

“All the six are residents of Kolkata, so we have got in touch with senior officers of Kolkata Police to ascertain if they have any criminal antecedents,” said the officer.

The accused will be presented before a court, and police will seek their remand.

Police were also investigating if the accused have any terror link.

An accidental blast at a house in Khagragarh in the district in October 2014 led to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) busting a terror module of Bangladeshi militant outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh.
