Six Held for Gambling at Three Spots in City

Mangaluru: The CCB police arrested three persons while engaged in the game of matka gambling from near the Naguri bus stop.

On learning that they were gambling in a public place, the police arrested Jayaraj Shetty (49), Ritesh (35), Kirtan Karkera (31) of Naguri and Bipin Salian (50) of Kankanady.

Rs 90,900 in cash, three mobile phones and slips of paper used in gambling were seized from them. The case was handed over to rural police station for further action.

Shivananda Shanubhag (53) and Rakesh (30), who were gambling by the side of the road between State Bank of India bus terminus and Hoige Bazar, were also arrested by the police.

Rs 4,740 and Rs 3,000 were seized from Shivananda and Rakesh respectively. The Pandeshwar police conducted the operation.
