Kuwait: KIFF holds Public Get Together - 'Empower the Community, Empower the Nation'

Kuwait: Kuwait India Fraternity Forum, a socio cultural organization of Indians residing in Kuwait organized a Public Get-Together on the theme “Empower the Community Empower the Nation” at Kuwait Teachers Society Auditorium, DASMA, recently.

Riyaz Pasha General Secretary, Popular Front of India, Karnataka state addressed the Indian expatriate community who had gathered at the venue.

He said that Indian Muslims, who have a brilliant history of independence, governance and political freedom along with economic prosperity before Independence, are now facing marginalization, economic deprivation, under representation in government jobs and backwardness in the field of education. In spite of this glorious heritage, Muslims of India are now considered extremely poor and are leading a life of poverty and deprivation.

Lamenting on the ignorance from the government’s side, Riyaz Pasha said that the Muslims and other minorities are dumped lower, remained marginalized mainly because of neglect and discrimination by the successive governments since independence. He pointed out that part of responsibility rests on the community also because any effort to empower the community must start from within the community itself.

Calling for a change, he said that the collective efforts from expatriate Indians could play a major role in the empowerment of backward and marginalized communities in India.

Speaking on the occasion, S.M Basheer, President Kuwait Kerala Muslim Association (KKMA) DK Wing said that All the Muslim groups should stay united for the empowerment of the community. He appreciated the KIFF for creating awareness in the minds of expatriate Indian community by conducting such programmes.

The programme commenced with recitation of the Holy Quran by Brother Shamnad. KIFF Executive council member Saifudeen Nalakath welcomed the gathering and KIFF Karnataka Chapter President Rafeeq Manchi delivered the vote of thanks. Mohammad Sameer Aman compered the programme.
