Mangalore: Got Sushi ! The Japanese are Coming to Town

Mangalore: Japanese delegates from the City of Nichinan, Japan are coming to Mangalore during the month of November 2012, as part of twin city programme hosted by Mangalore City Corporation .

As a preparation for the visit of Japanese delegates, Directors of Aina Business Promotions Private Ltd Satoru Comori and Haruka Ito have been staying in Mangalore for the last three months and have brought out a booklet ‘Incredible Mangalore’ in Japanese language highlighting the major activities, educational institutions, hospitals, fish market, vegetable markets, places of visit and other details pertaining to Mangalore.

During a meeting held lately, Business Associate Ravi Raja Rao said that the twin city plan aims at creating strong ties and relationship between the two cities. Nichinan, a city in Miyazaki district of Japan which came into existence in 1950 has fishing and agriculture as major activities, including eight fisheries port and the fish production is about 3,354,230 tonne. He also said under Nichinan Gakuen Nursing School, one can have exchange programme, wherein the students will be given free nursing training. Realising the shortage of labourers faced in Mangalore city,the model of construction used in Japan can be exhibited in Mangalore with the help of Nichinan. Boulders could also be exchanged, he said.

The twin city programme can also bring cultural exchange programme to highlight the rich culture and tradition of both the cities. Also to start a South Indian cafe in Nichinan and similarly a Sushi bar in Mangalore will be a good idea under this programme. This exchange project will boost business and trade activities between the two cities, and will also give thrust on agriculture and organic farming.

Also during the discussions, Corporator Shanker Bhat said the twin city programme should not be limited to one visit alone. It should help both the cities to take development work and continue further. All the corporators present agreed with the suggestion made by City Commissioner Dr Harish, that the MCC should send an official invitation to invite the delegates to Mangalore.
