Press Release

Mangalore: In this vibrant business environment, the decision making ability is optimized through honing the skills of research and enhancing the knowledge. The usage of appropriate methodologies of research is the key to accomplish valid conclusions in decision making. This can be achieved only through strengthening fundamental concepts by getting exposed to identification of the problem, hypothesis testing, qualitative, quantitative techniques and multivariate data analysis and also be able to identify the appropriate tools required for analyzing various types of data and interpreting the findings.

Being a research center for Visweswaraiah Technological University, Belgaum, Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, Mangalore, is dedicated to promote research studies. Keeping this in view, Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management has decided to organize Faculty Development Programme on “RESEARCH METHODS FOR BUSINESS MANAGEMENT AND SOCIAL SCIENCES” to enable Management teachers, Researchers, Practitioners and Professionals, irrespective of their discipline to contribute towards their knowledge domains.

Focus of the FDP is on making the participants exposed to the process of research – philosophy, approaches and methodology. Before plunging into the complexities of the Research Process, the participants would be given basic concepts and overview of Statistical Methods and Probability. Subsequently they would be taken through sequential facets in the Research Process.

Takeaways

To enable participants to define a research problem and develop a suitable methodology for addressing the problem

To provide a comprehensive introduction to research methodology to enable management teachers to evolve as academicians of repute with a clear focus on applied research

To help researchers choose the right methodology for their research study

To understand the issues involved in coding, editing, analyzing and reporting research data

To generate ideas and discuss about emerging issues and perspective fields of research by bringing together academicians, practitioners and professions from different functional areas.
