Udupi: ABVP to Fight Against Corrupt State Educational Officials

Udupi: Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) will stage statewide protest on july 7, demanding a strict law to check into corruption that is taking place in the education field, and initiate proper action against corrupt vice-chancellors, said Ramesh K State Secretary of ABVP. He was addressing the press meet at press club on Friday July 6, 2012.
Government has not taken proper action against corrupt vice-chancellors of certain universities in the state. ABVP will demand for a centralized admission policy with regard to admissions in engineering and medical colleges to check donation menace. He also demanded stringent action against teachers conducting private tuitions.

Further he said that the fee hike affected poor meritorious students. The protest also pressed for stricter regulation of Universities. “In allowing the opening of many universities, many more problems have propped up, while the existing problems continue to affect higher education,”
The organisation has called for a uniform academic year for all universities, besides demanding action against corrupt officials and ex-Vice chancellor of the Woman’s University, Bijapur ; Mysore University, and Rajiv Gandhi University. He urged the Government to make public the report submitted by Commission on the alleged misappropriation of funds and appointment of teaching faculty to the university by violating norms.
Among other demands, the organisation asked for action to be taken against those who blocked seats, implementation of the Right to Education Act and penalties against educational institutions who violate the Act, developing infrastructure and increasing finances of newly-formed universities.
