Udupi : To a charge made on Raghupathy Bhat, MLA Udupi  by Janardhana Bhandarkar, General Secretary, Udupi Block, Raghupathi Bhat gave explanation about the matter, when contacted by mangalorean.com over the phone. He stated:

"It was in 2009 when  Industry Minister Murugesh Nirani had come to Udupi, farmers of Kaup Constituency had pleaded for seeing to it that their land be acquired by KIADB. So 44 acres of agricultural land was de-notified then.  75 acres of land nearing this site alone has been acquired.  The de-notified land is in the name of the owner farmer himself.  I don't know what is the deal in this, I don't seem to understand about". 

"If de-notifying land itself is considered to be a murky or shady deal, I stick to my stand even now', explained Raghupathy Bhat, MLA, Udupi.
