Mumbai: A Train 'Yatra' To Enlighten Young People To Become Entrepreneurs

By Team Mangalorean, Mumbai

Mumbai:
On December 24th, a train will leave Mumbai carrying 450 India's brightest young people on the journey of a lifetime. Over the course of 15 days, the ' Jagriti Yatra ' will make a 9000 km round trip of India, stopping in remote corners where a new India is being born.

The aim of this unique Yatra is to awaken the spirit of entrepreneurship - both social and economic - within India's youth by exposing them to individuals and institutions that are developing unique solutions to India's challenges.

The vision of  'Jagriti Yatra ' is to inspire young Indians living in the middle of the Indian demographic diamond (Rs 40-Rs 120 per day) to lead into development rather than taking to enterprise. By doing so, they can turn from being job seekers to job creators.

Sanjit Bunker Roy is an example. He refused to be a mute spectator when a famine devastated Bihar 30 years ago, and started the Barefoot College in Tilonia. He has made the people there self-reliant virtually in every aspect and enabled a whopping 100,000 people across 110 villages to have access to safe drinking water, education, healthcare and employment. Meeting people like Sanjit Bunker Roy, kindles fires of entrepreneurship and social change in the minds of the young Yatris.

After doing successful Yatras in the past, Jagriti is now growing into an ecosystem to support the youths of the country during their entrepreneurial journey. Our past Yatris have begun to collaborate and develop enterprises both nationally and within their communities. The movement has begun.

We are getting ready to set out for the adventure for this year and the registration is already on at www.jagritiyatra.com. We are focusing on getting more female Yatris, Yatris from East and Central part of India and experienced facilitators.
