Kundapura: Haladi Srinivas Shetty, hailed as "Vajapayee of Kundapur" , 4 times elected candidate being dropped from the new cabinet of  Jagadish Shettar, the new 21 Chief Minister of Karnataka comes as a bolt from the blue, Haladi Srinivas Shetty's  ardent admirers find it difficult to digest the news.  

Soon after hearing the news that Haladi Srinivas was not considered for the position of a Minister, Haladi had tears in his eyes, it is because he himself had not coveted the position, the Party had invited him to Bangalore promising that he would be offered Ministership.  But that was not to be so in the opportunistic arena called Politics. These tears put fire into the hearts of his followers all over Kundapur and his followers gave a call for Kundapur Bund.

Bus Services got paralysed since morning, traffic got disrupted, shops closed down, the day wore the sign that the Bundh would be a great success. Kundapur, Haladi, Hebri, Bidkalkatte, Koteshwar, Kumbhasi including many other areas are likely to be observing bundh.

Disappointment amongst admirers

Haladi had a way of conducting himself in Politics. He was apolitical in a way that he had a heart to listen to anyone's problems and find a solution to it. His large-heartedness, sympathetic nature had endeared him to one and all of his constituency. People had no qualms about him. Such Politicians being very rare (comparable to Vajapayee), Haladi being denied Ministership became talk of the town. Everyone was found discussing that Haladi had been cheated by the BJP High Command.

11 Kundapura Municipality members, President of Karavali Pradhikara, Zilla Panchayath & Taluk Panchayath members are tendering their resignations collectively, Udupi MLA Raghupathy Bhat, Byndoor MLA Laxminarayan and many more MLAs, many Zilla Panchayath & Taluk Panchayath members are getting ready to resign.
