Hassan: Wild Elephant Electrocuted while Trying to Pluck Jackfruit

Hassan: A female wild elephant was found dead in a coffee estate belonging to B K Gopal in Halasur near Rayarakoppalu in Alur taluk on Tuesday night.

From Tuesday night, movement of wild elephants had been observed in the area and hence no one had dared to come out for two days. On Wednesday night, a worker spotted the carcass of the pachyderm lying in the plantation and he informed the owner.

The forest officials who were called investigated and found that the pachyderm was trying to pluck a jackfruit from a tree. While doing so it came into contact an live overhead power-line and got electrocuted. 
Its tusks were pulled out by the forest officials and the carcass was buried in the estate.
