Mangalore: The Karnataka State Under -15 FIDE Rated Open and Under 15 Girls Chess Championship-2012 is being held at “Sri Subhramaniya Sabha, Karangalpady, from 18-07-2012 to 22-07-2012 organized by South Kanara District Chess Association under the Aegis of United Karnataka Chess Association.

Karnataka State Under-15 Open FIDE Rated

End of Day 2 and Round 4

In the 3rd round of the Under-15 Open Chess Championship second seed Satvik M from Bangalore beat his Bangalorean counterpart Parthasarthy R in the first board. Second board saw Andria D’Souza from Mangalore beating Amogha H A from Mysore. The Under- 13 State Champion Arjun Adappa from Mangalore lost to Sharan Rao from Mangalore in the 3rd board.

In the 4th round M Satvik from Bangalore beat with his black pieces his opponent Sharan Rao from Mangalore in a queen and rook ending ,and successfully gained a point. In board number 2, A Augustin of Kodagu lost his battle against  Andria from Mangalore.

Karnataka State Under-15 Girls Chess Championship--Prize Distribution

Day two started off with round 3 for the Under -15 Girls where top seeded Gangamma from Mysore beat Manasa H R from Mysore in a closely fought game. In the 2nd board Shalon Joanne Pais from Mangalore beat Vidya Moni from Bangalore. Round 3 ended with Gangamma securing sole lead with 3 points.

In the final round, the top board saw Gangamma from Mysore and Shalon Joanne Pais from Mangalore who settled for a draw. Manasa H R from Mysore beat Vani S Indrali from Hubli in the 2nd board.

At the end of the tournament Gangamma emerged as the undefeated winner with 3.5 points out of 4 rounds. Shalon Joanne Pais from Mangalore was placed second followed by Manasa HR from Mysore in 3rd place and Vani S Indrali from Hubli in 4th place.  The top four players will be representing Karnataka State in the National Under -15 (Sub-Juniors) Championship which will be held at Nagpur from Sept 17th to 27th 2012.
