Mangalore: MAA To Organize ' Student Counselling ' and ' Teacher Competency Development ' Workshops

Mangalore: Mangala Alumni Association (MAA), the old students’ association of Mangalore University, has been organising number of programmes/activities for the students and faculty of colleges in and around Mangalore on several issues related with curricular and co-curricular subjects to enhance the quality of education and decorum of teaching profession over the years.
On 29-30, December 2011, a two-day workshop on ‘Teacher Competency Development’ was organised at University College, Hampankatta, for the degree college teachers, in which about 82 staff members gained expertise on several roles of a teacher (Viz., teacher as a leader/change agent/counsellor/researcher/role model and user of ICT mode of teaching, etc.)
We would like to bring to your kind notice, that this year too, a one day workshop on ' Student Counselling ' for degree college teachers on 2nd August 2012, at Maps College, Chinmaya Lane, Bunts Hostel-Kadri Road, will be organized, in which the college teachers will be trained on techniques of student counselling, which is the need of the hour since student life is a very crucial stage in one’s life and is getting complicated day by day due to numerous reasons. Prof.(Dr.) Rameela Shekhar, Dean, Post Graduate Studies, School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, has consented to be the resource person for the day. Dr. Sanjeeva Rai, Chief of Medical Services, Fr.Muller Medical College, will inaugurate and Dinesh Kumar Alva, President of MAA will preside over the workshop. The college Principals have been requested to depute at least two staff members from their respective colleges to be the beneficiaries of the workshop.
We would also like to intimate you, the organisation will hold another one-day workshop on “Teacher Competency Development” for the college teachers of Udupi district on the 25th August 2012 at MGM College, Udupi, since they can't make it for the workshop held at Mangalore.
The alumni of MAA are working in various capacities to spread their work all over the world. Our earnest request to the media, both print and electronic is, to inform them, the activities of MAA through your respective channels and help them to get associated with MAA and support its activities.
