Mangalore: With the arrest of seven more persons in connection with the assault on the Morning Mist homestay at Padil by the Hindu Jagarana Vedike members on July 28, the number of total arrests has risen to 22.

On Thursday, August 2 morning, Sampat Poojary (23) of Munglitota house in Kandavara, Suresh Poojary (24) of Gangadhar Rai compound of Veeranagar, Deepak (24) from MESCOM Maroli vicinity, and Mithun Poojary (21) were arrested by inspector Dr H N Venkatesh Prasanna of the city crime bureau (CCB).

In the evening, Nitin (28) of Perla, Jagadish aka Jaggu (20) and Ramesh Kotian (40) of Kannur were arrested.

The total number of assailants exceeded 30 according to eyewitnesses. Hence more arrests are likely. The police action has gathered force after the intervention of the judiciary in the matter.
