Kundapur:
An autorickshaw parked in front of Swati clinic caught fire and got extensively damaged on Monday, Aug 6 night.

The mishap is suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit. The vehicle belongs to Raghavendra Devadiga of Doddoni in Koteshwar. Fire suddenly appeared in the exterior part of the engine and it spread to the fuel tank underneath.

The driver had parked the vehicle and gone to a nearby shop and remained safe when the fire broke out. Passersby and other drivers helped the fire brigade in dousing the fire.
For the owner-driver, this was the third mishap. Twice earlier he had met with accidents and was saved. With the help of a loan, he had got the vehicle back in good shape and begun plying it again. It was a touching scene to see him in tears as the sole source of his daily bread went on fire.

The bottom portion of the rickshaw has been totally damaged in the mishap.
