Team Mangalorean - Karkala
from Sandesh Sanoor

Karkala: Santosh Shetty (32) was arrested at Nadpal near Hebri Someshwar by the special forest mobile police squad on Wednesday, August 8 for being in possession of a leopard pelt intended to be sold.

On receiving a tip-off that two persons were arriving there to find a buyer, police sub inspector K R Manjunath and team swooped on them. While Santosh was arrested, Wilson aka Ranjit escaped. The cops are on the lookout for him now.

The size of the pelt suggested that a cub had been poached. The case has been handed over to the Hebri division forest officials.
