Udupi: Heavy Rains, Gusty Winds Ruin Two Homes, One Shop

Udupi: Heavy rains and gusty winds over the last two days here have created quite a bit havoc in the City and in the outskirts .Heavy rains and gusty winds have damaged two houses and a shop in Udupi district on Wednesday, August 8, 2012.
According to sources in Kundapur taluk office, the house of Vanaja Naik was damaged when a tree fell on it at Kothlupady in Andar village .The loss had been estimated at Rs. 18,000. The house of Nabisa was damaged at Jarkala in Yerlapady village after a tree fell on it, the sources said. The loss had been estimated at Rs. 10,000. Tin roof of a welding shop of Anand Mulya in Muniyal village was damaged in the rain. The loss had been estimated at Rs. 30,000.







A road connecting Kabbinale and Nirani villages was damaged owing to a landslide. The loss had been estimated at Rs. 15 lakh, the sources said. According to Kundapur Thasildhar Lalanke Ravi, sea erosion had been reported at Someshwar, Kodi and Uppunda villages in Kundapur taluk.
According to information made available by the control room at the Deputy Commissioner’s office here, Udupi received a rainfall of 90.6 mm in the past 24 hours ended at 8.30 a.m. on Wednesday. Kundapur and Karkala received a rainfall of 59.8 mm and 132.4 mm, respectively. |
