Kasaragod: In a tragic incident, a mother and her son and daughter were hit by a train near the Trikaripur railway station in the southern part of the district around 6 am of Thursday, August 9.

It is not immediately known if it was an accident or a case of joint suicide. The train was speeding from Thiruvananthapuram towards Mangalore. As it went past the Trikaripur railway station, it is said to have hit and crushed them.

The deceased have been identified as Komalavalli (52), hailing from Maiyil in Kannur and her son Shivaprasad (30) and daughter Praseeda (25).

The Chandera police have registered a case.
