Puttur: Syro-Malankara Diocese Apologizes over Tricolour Indiscretion

Puttur: Addressing a media meet on Thursday, Syro Malankara Puttur diocese vicar general Fr George Kuntur and Nellyadi entrepreneur U P Varghese said that the hoisting of the national flag  on a pole carrying a cross at the bishop's house in Parladka on Independence Day was only a matter of oversight and indiscretion and was not intentional.

On behalf of the diocese, they tendered their apology to everyone concerned and all those who felt hurt by the incident, saying that it was only because of lack of awareness the incident had happened. There was certainly no intention to insult the flag or hurt the patriotic susceptibilities of anyone. They admitted that it was wrong and assured that such incidents would not recur in future.

Assuring that they had the highest respect for the country and the tricolour and appealed to the public to pardon them for the intentional indiscretion.

Further action in DC's hands - Tahsildar

Speaking to our correspondent, Puttur tahsildar Kullegowda said that he had submitted a report to the DK deputy commissioner on the incident of hoisting of the national flag on a pole with a cross much over it. He said that there was scope for a legal action in the matter and the DC's response was being awaited.
