Mumbai: Bunts Sangha Ladies Wing holds Singing Competition for Local Community

Mumbai: The Ladies Wing of Vasai-Dahanu Local Committee of Bunts Sangha, conducted Singing Competition recently under the guidance of Manjula A Shetty, Chairperson of Bunts Sangha, at Gold Coin Restaurant Hall, Vasai West. 

The Tulu, Kannada and Mangalore/Udupi Konkans organisations from Vasai to Dahanu participated in the competition in large numbers, and the competition was held for individual and group songs.

The event started with lighting the lamp ceremony by Karnire Shridhar Shetty, Chairman of Local Committee, and other dignitaries of Ladies Wing, along with a prayer by Mamata Shetty, music teacher from Vasai.  Rashmi Kakandki, well known singer and Ambarish Patel, Kannada poet were the judges for this competition. Rashmi Kakandki explained the rules and regulations of the competition.  The audience applauded all the singers during the competition.

During the formal programme, local committee Chairman Karnire Shridhar Shetty appreciated the work of Ladies Wing for bringing different communities together under one platform and proving the unity of Kannadigas residing away from their native places. Chairperson of the Ladies Wing congratulated all the community organisations, participants, judges and all the organisers for their support The event was concluded with the prize distribution.

Mumbai: Malad Kannada Sangha holds Annual General Meeting

Mumbai: The 11- Annual General Meeting of Malad Kannada Sangha was held on  August 12, 2012 at Deepmala Housing Society Hall, Malad West under the presidentship of Harish N. Shetty.

The meeting commenced after lighting the lamps by Hon. President Padmanabha S. Payyade, President Harish N. Shetty, Gen. Secretary  Shankar D. Poojary, Ladies Wing Chairperson Sbubhalata S. Shetty, Secretary Shambhavi Shetti, Jt. Secretary Ashalata Kotian and others.

Shankar D. Poojary Gen. Secretary of the Sangha briefed about Malad Kannada Sangha’s activities and achievements. Ashalata Kotian presented the report of activities of Sangha during the current year. Balakrishna Shetty and Surendra Shetty were appointed as the Internal Auditor and Statutory Auditor of the Sangha.

During the meeting newly elected president of Mathrubhumi Credit Society Ratnakar Shetty Mondkoor was felicitated on behalf of the Malad Kannada Sangha.

In his presidential address Harish Shetty said that the  dream of having our their own office premises came true with the help of the donors mainly the Hon. President Padmanabha Payyade. He extended sincere thanks to all those who helped directly and indirectly to the progress of the Sangha. He said we have to support our children to know our native culture. Ladies Wing of the Sangha will be conducting regular programmes to strengthen our culture and we need your continued support for the same.

Hon. President Padmanabha payyade also spoke during this meeting and said that in spite of  difficult situations we have to fight against them and work to strengthen our language and culture. Financial help was offered to some of the needy poor students.
