Spurious ‘desi ghee’ seized in Gurgaon

Gurgaon, Nov 21 (IANS) Loose spurious ghee weighing over one quintal (over 100 kg), packed in pouches of 1 kg and 2 kg besides drums was seized on Saturday as authorities here raided various places in nearby Garhi Harsaru village.

The crackdown on sellers of spurious ‘desi ghee’ was carried out following a news channel’s report, prompting Deputy Commissioner T.L. Satyaprakash to set up a team for conducting the raids.

The report had shown how spurious ghee was prepared near the Garhi Harsaru junction and sold to public as desi ghee. The concerned officials were not bothering to act on this illegal practice despite being aware of it.

All the locations were near the railway station in Garhi Harsaru village.

No arrests could be made as the accused managed to flee. All the locations have been sealed and FIR lodged against unidentified accused.
