Subrahmanya: For the select gathering that had assembled in the Dharmasammelan Mantap of Shri Kukke Subrahmanya temple here on the occasion of Naraka Chaturdashi, it was a variety fare of bhajans, bhaavageetes, folk songs and much more.
The Bhrame band from Bengaluru, with a local talent in Alaka Subrahmanya, held the audience glued to their seat for about three hours.
Bhajans in honour of Shiva, Vishnu, Govinda, Ganapati, Kalabhairava, Swami Ayyappa and others went well with the holy ambience of the temple vicinity.
In a lighter but educative spirit, songs like Kodagana KoLi Nungitta, KuruDu Naayi Santege Bantante, KurigaLu Saar KurigaLu and others drew a big round of applause.
Sparsha R K, Alaka Subrahmanya, Vikas Vasishta, Krishna Raj and others, with their mellufluous voices, kept the listeners spell-bound. The song ‘Kemmaleta Brahma’ from the Tulu movie Koti Chennaya, rendered by Krishna Raj, won special appreciation.
Sandeep Ravikumar and others on tabla and percussion instruments and others on keyboard all put together provided a perfect combination. Vishwaas Vasishta could not be present because of a TV programme which he had to attend.
The programme was sponsored by Vijay Comforts, Namma TV and others. The website, www.mangalorean.com, was the exclusive media partner for the event.
The sponsors, e-partners and all those who contributed to the success of the programme were honoured with mementoes.
