Sullia: Tree Crashes across Highway near Adkar – Traffic Blocked for an Hour

Sullia: A large part of the traffic between Mangaluru and Bengaluru which would have otherwise plied through the Shiradi ghat currently closed for repairs and restoration, is being diverted through Puttur-Sullia-Sampaje-Madikeri route.

The situation is being worsened by the effects of rain. Two days earlier, a tree fell across the highway at Koynad near the district boundary and halted the traffic for hours.

On Tuesday around 8-30 am, a tree crashed at Adkar on the outskirts here and blocked the movement of vehicles for about an hour.. Immediate residents, joined by passengers from vehicles stranded on the road, helped in clearing the hurdle.

Since there are indications of heavy rains in the state for a few more days, such incidents are expected to happen again and again.
