Surathkal Parishioners Celebrate Feast of Sacred Heart of Jesus

Dubai: Surathkal Parishioners residing in the UAE celebrated the feast of their patron, the Sacred Heart of Jesus, on June 3, Friday 2016. The celebration was held in the afternoon at India Club, Dubai and was organised by the Emirates Surathkal Parishioners Association (ESPA).





The programme began with a prayer, followed by the lighting of the lamp by the advisor of the association Valerian Dalmaida, president Roydon Roche, former president Ashok D’Souza and Abu Dhabi representative Jerald D’Souza. Vice president Vincent Misquith welcomed the gathering and mentioned that main object of ESPA was to bring closer all Surathkal parishioners residing in the UAE.

Founder president Sunil Pinto conveyed the wishes of the Surathkal parish priest Fr Anthony Lobo, which was followed by a good entertainment programme.

There were dances from Nicole Rosario, Calvina Pinto, Janine D’Souza, Aaron Misquith, Alston Misquith, Joshua D’Souza and Joshita D’Souza, which were well appreciated. More than 20 dancers, well trained by Arun Lobo of Feet Beat group, gave a stunning performance. Comedy Skits by Wilson Serrao, Avinash D’Souza, Rolan Martis and Cleeta Andrade left the audience laughing. The Band Eagles regaled the audience with a variety of Konkani and Hindi numbers. Melwyn, Preema and Prashant were at their best. The audience were spellbound and cheered the band throughout.

ESPA members Calvina Pinto, Wilson Crasta, Allwyn D’Souza, Desmond D’Souza and Vincent Misquith also entertained the audience with their songs. There was also a song sung by Ashton Pinto with Calvina Pinto on the guitars. A mini fashion show of children was also conducted. It was nice to see the children walking on the stage. Spot games and lucky draws were conducted and prizes were given away to the winners.

Well known MC Canute Pinto Kelarai compered the whole programme. Secretary Clara Pinto delivered the vote of thanks. A Baila dance from the Eagles got everyone to the dance floor and wanting more. The programme ended with the ‘Laudate’.

The election for the ESPA committee was also held during the programme. Advisor Valerian Dalmaida conducted the election. The new members of the committee for the year 2016-18 are: President – Vincent Misquith, Vice President – Vineeth Cutinha, Secretary – Wilson Serrao, Joint Secretary – Avinash D’Souza, Treasurer – David D’Souza, Events Secretary – Jennifer Aranha, Cultural Secretary – Keron Misquith, Sports Secretary – Wilson Crasta, Internal Auditor – Clara Pinto, Abu Dhabi representative – Jerry D’Souza, Dubai rep – William Sequeira, Sharjah and Northern Emirates rep – Gilbert D’Souza, Advisors – Charles Aranha, Godfrey Misquith, Valerian Dalmaida.
