Swedish teen who joined IS return home

Stockholm, Sep 4 (IANS) A teenage boy who disappeared from Sweden earlier this year and is thought to have joined the Islamic State (IS) terror group has returned home, the media reported on Friday.

According to Swedish daily Svenska Dagbladet, the 17-year-old returned to the country with the help of the National Coordinator Against Extremism, The Local news portal reported.

In May, he appeared in a propaganda video on YouTube posing with automatic weapons.

There are growing concerns in Sweden about the number of young people who are joining extremist groups.

In August, a pregnant 15-year-old Swedish girl and her 19-year-old partner were captured by Islamist fighters in Syria.

Sweden’s Security Service has said up to 150 Swedes are known to have spent time in Syria or Iraq fighting for IS or other radical groups, with intelligence suggesting that at least 40 have died in the process
